A day long event discussing bee health and exploring best management practices help sustain the bee population for the future. 2016 Bee Symposium keynote speakers are Yves LeConte, Director, Research Unit UMR 406 Abeilles et Environnement and Research Director, I.N.R.A. and Dennis VanEngelsdorp, Assistant Professor of Entomology at the University of Maryland and project director for the Bee Informed Partnership.
The essential course for the professional buyer, importer, category manager, producer, packer or anyone who wants to gain expertise in the arena of honey analysis. Over two days, expert teachers will guide participants through a unique tasting and educational odyssey.
The Honey and Pollination Center is at the forefront of ushering research on this ancient (and delicious!) beverage into the university setting. In collaboration with the world-renowned UC Davis Department of , curriculum is being developed to further the research into this fascinating and under-studied fermented beverage.
Held annually as a fundraising dinner for the Honey and Pollination Center, the Feast: A Celebration of Mead and Honey (previously known as the Mid-Winter Beekeeper's Feast) features a menu that highlights the importance of pollinators to so much of what is on our tables. With a menu designed by Ann M. Evans, author of The Davis Farmer’s Market Cookbook, the feast is catered by the famous Buckhorn Steakhouse, in Winters, Calif.
A free event that is open to the public and held each year on Picnic Day, "Pollination Day" includes free honey tastings, crafts for kids, bee costumes, and honey sales.
