Amina Harris, Director of the Honey & Pollination Center on Capitol Public Radio, Insight.

"California harvests millions of pounds of honey each year, bringing tens of millions of dollars to farmers in the Golden State.

Its diversity in flavor and texture, as well as purported medicinal value, has grown interest in the crop dramatically.

In Woodland this weekend, the inaugural California Honey Festival kicks off with guest speakers, concerts and tons of delicious honey-themed treats.

Amina Harris is one of the founders of the festival and director of the Honey and Pollination Center at UC Davis. She joins Insight with a preview of the event.

The festival is on Saturday, May 6 on Main Street in Downtown Woodland from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m."
